Ciara Walsh started her career undertaking research on radon dosimetry at University College Dublin before working on atmospheric dispersion and off site dose assessments at the NRPB (now PHE). She is a fellow of the Institute of Physics. During her 10 years at RWM working on disposability of Higher Activity Wastes she has assessed waste management proposals for operational waste from all UK sites, for Magnox reactor decommissioning wastes, and wastes from the decommissioning of test reactors at Harwell, Winfrith, Sellafield and Dounreay. Her last two years at RWM were spent establishing and delivering a programme of work to identify and deliver opportunities for optimising waste management. In 2014 she moved to Sellafield as Waste Integration Manager. This role requires a cradle to grave approach for waste management, including management across waste classifications. A core part of her role is identifying opportunities associated with alternative approaches to waste management.
